Break Every Chain

“There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain.”

This has easily become one of my favorite worship songs recently. I mean… I tear up almost every time we sing it at church. It’s become my personal anthem for difficult times, which if I’m being honest, seem to hit me at some point every day.

Anyone with a pulse can tell you that this is a difficult world we live in. Just turn on the news, and BAM! Before you know it you’ve invited hurt, pain, terrorism, racism, sickness, death, and straight up fear into your day. Never mind anything you may be dealing with personally. We all deal with negativity, worry, stress, anxiety, heartache, health and pop up situations that were most certainly not on the daily to do list. We feel the need for peace, comfort, rest, and most of all, hope.

Look I don’t know about you, but I definitely don’t have time to go treasure hunting for all of these magical rare gifts. So it’s a good thing we don’t have to. What a major relief to know that we can have all of these things in Jesus.

HE is Peace:

“And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:7

HE is Comfort:

“Praise be to the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of compassion and the God of all comfort. Who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. ” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

(that’s a lot of comfort to go around friends!)

HE will give you rest:

“come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

And HE is most certainly your Hope for tomorrow:

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a LIVING HOPE through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3

I float to cloud nine at the mere thought of this Living Hope for my future, and beam over the fact that he will take care of these daily worries if I will put my faith in him.

Being human this isn’t always easy, and all too often I take for granted these gifts of peace he has given me. I too easily let my stress and worldly issues cloud my thinking into the “How am I going to fix this?!” corner. Well i’m not going to fix it. I won’t be able to with out God. I’m going to put my faith in HIM to take care of everything. Actually trusting God and handing over control can be a scary thing, but it’s even scarier to try and do it by yourself.

God has the power, control, and Love to take care of everything, to break every chain that’s holding you down.

If you’ll let him.
